P6 travel back to the 19th Century!

Today, P6 travelled back in time to the Victorian era to compare school life with school today.

We had to abide by the rules of the Victorian classroom and carry out the daily lessons of a Victorian child, which we found were very different to the way we learn today! With a huge emphasis on the 3 Rs (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic), learning included times tables and poem recital, pronunciation lessons and handwriting; we even attempted to write on slates in copperplate style, as used in the Victorian era. This was a lot trickier than it looked! With no technology, we also had a go at playing some Victorian games with marbles.
