Save Our Oceans

Primary 3 have been very fortunate to have been working with students from Aberdeen University Marine Society for the last 6 weeks.

Sadly, Wednesday was our last session with Ella and her dedicated team. The children had great fun designing and making their own ‘bags for life’. Ella also presented the children with their Sea Champion certificates. Ella was delighted to receive one of our Eco Flying Pigs to take back to Aberdeen University Marine Society.

We were delighted to be invited to Greyhope Bay’s Pop Up Shop at the Bon Accord Shopping Centre on their opening day on Friday. We thought we were popping in to deliver a Flying Eco Pig, and were delighted to be welcomed with a tour of the exhibition and a workshop! The children learned even more about conserving our oceans, and also demonstrated their knowledge. Another of our Eco Pigs is now flying above the exhibition area. Thank you so much to Fiona and her team at Greyhope Bay for their warm welcome.

We then headed to the Aberdeen Offices of Kirsty Blackman, our MP. We were very lucky to find Kirsty in her office, and were all invited to pile into her office! The children explained the idea behind the Flying Pigs, and gave Kirsty a letter asking her to join the campaign against single-use plastic. Kirsty said we are the school who is always writing to ask her to do something! She was happy to accept a Flying Pig from us. Thank you Kirsty for your hospitality!
