Primary 3 are Mummy Makers!

As part of our Ancient Egypt topic, we have been learning about mummies and how they were made.

We arrived for our first day of work at ”The Beautiful House” yesterday where we began the mummification process. We are turning tomatoes into mummies!

We started by cutting open our body (tomato) and removing the organs inside (the seeds). We learned that ancient Egyptians used Natron. Our natron was made of salt and bicarbonate of soda. We filled our scooped out tomatoes with our natron and then buried them in natron. We have put our tomatoes in a dark chamber and will take them out in a few weeks to continue the mummifying process.

In Ancient Egypt it took about 70 days to make a mummy!

Ask us at home about what we learned!
