Early Learning Payment for Families – Best Start Grant

Best Start Grant is a package of three payments intended to give extra money to lower-income families during the early years of a child’s life. Social Security Scotland confirmed the dates on which they will open for applications for the remaining two payments.

They are:
• Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment (a one-off payment of £250 for children aged between two and three and a half) – from 8am, 29 April 2019
• The School Age Payment (a one-off payment of £250 available around the time a child would normally start Primary 1) – from 8am on Monday 3 June 2019

or through the Freephone helpline – 0800 182 2222. The helpline is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
